Grounding Systems
Our speciality is the integration of instruments into grounding/earthing systems. Grounding has an important impact on many instruments apart from electrical safety and lightning protection.
this issue is predominantly with the application of Magnetic-Inductive flow meters.
Magnetic-inductive flow meter measure induced potentials. These potentials are referenced to the potential of the measured (conductive) fluid.
Certain installation, when non-conductive piping / lining or cathodic protection systems are employed, require a floating reference to avoid
- interferences
- electro-chemical corrossion of parts of the instrument
We have in-depth experience in this issue.
A simple example is a mag meter installed with an insulation set in an motar-lined piping system. The use of grounding disks could get avoided due to short u-and downstream distances to the earthing points
but often additional means are required
